Motörhead recorded this more muscular version of the classic song written by David Bowie, laying it down in the studio shortly before the death of their iconic frontman, Lemmy Kilmister—just two weeks before Bowie himself passed away. There have been countless cover versions over the years, by artists ranging from Blondie and Nico to Peter Gabriel and Philip Glass, as well as Local H and Depeche Mode. And, of course, there is the version performed by Johnny Depp with Hollywood Vampires. Portuguese artists Rita Redshoes and David Fonseca have also produced a compelling and irresistible rendition.
