Juliette Gréco (1927–2020) was a French singer and actress who became an icon of music and the bohemian culture of Paris. With her deep voice and intense interpretative style, she captivated audiences with songs such as “La Javanaise”, “Parlez-moi d’amour”, and “Déshabillez-moi”. Closely associated with existentialism, Gréco moved within circles of intellectuals such as Jean-Paul Sartre and Boris Vian, becoming a muse of the artistic scene in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Her career spanned more than six decades, leaving a lasting legacy in French chanson.
