It may be a song about love, politics and drugs, closing out the decade (it was released in 1969). For all its air of resignation, and even if we are left with whatever fate deals us, that does not mean we stop striving for what we want. In the end, a song so grounded manages to strike a deep existential chord. To put it in a Setúbal idiom, as they say at Fonte Nova: “Whatever comes up in the net is fish.” Though nowadays, it seems to be more and more rubbish…
